OUR History

What began as meetings at a brush arbor nestled in a grove of oak trees has led to 160 years of dedicated service to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
 
Pleasant Grove Baptist Church was constituted on May 16th, 1856.  Samuel B. Sanders served as the first pastor. Pleasant Grove was admitted to the Tugalo Baptist Association in 1856 and the Georgia Baptist Convention in 1857.
 
Many changes have been made to the church over the years. There have been three buildings on the site, with the most recent one being dedicated in 1988.  We have a beautiful Family Life Center, which was dedicated in 1995, that is a host to many activities to glorify our Lord, including, our Awana program.
 
During a weekend event in May of 2006, we celebrated our 150th anniversary. We held a note burning to signify that the bank note on the Family Life Center was paid off in January, 2006, leaving the church debt free.
 
As we continue to grow in His service and in His love, we believe that Pleasant Grove Baptist Church is a wonderful place to worship our Lord and Savior!
